A multi-million euro budget movie which was partially filmed parts of Tipperary, Clare and Limerick including at the Swiss Cottage in Cahir is to have it’s first screening at Limerick’s Belltable Theatre tomorrow night before going on General Release on March 7th.  Tickets can be purchased at ticketstop.ie with doors opening at 6pm.

The film, titled, Bonhoeffer, is based on the life and legacy of theologian and anti-Nazi dissident Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Filming of the €22m film was completed in 2023 with the Film Development Agency Film Limerick supporting the project as local scenes were transformed into 1940s Germany. March 7th marks both the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s  birthday.

Cahir has a long history as a location for film production and the latest exposure is expected to help make the town  a destination for international visitors.
