Two projects in county Tipperary are included in the first 17 projects to share €2.9million in funding under Fáilte Ireland’s Investment Grant-Aid Scheme for Private and Community Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs).
The successful Tipperary applications include €300,000 for the conversion of outbuildings into self catering accommodation units and to provide facilities for glamping tents. This funding is allocated to Barnane Rectory near Templemore.
A second project secured €47.200 for enhanced bicycles and equipment to provide an accessible and inclusive visitor experience. This allocation is made to Blueway Bike Hire in Carrick on Suir.
The state tourism agency says evaluations of remaining applications are ongoing with further funding awards to be announced on a rolling basis over the coming weeks and months. The scheme is part of the EU Just Transition Fund programme, co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union. The scheme closed for applications on 13th January 2025 after receiving 170 applications.
Four categories were eligible for funding including the Development or Enhancement of Sustainable Visitor Experiences; Development of Sustainable/Low Carbon Tourist Accommodation; Capital Project Planning and Design; and Accessibility enhancements to provide a more inclusive visitor experience.
