Number Of Power Outages Across West Tipperary Caused By Short Electrical Storm

A short electrical storm caused a number of power outages across west Tipperary this morning. The thunder and lighting was followed by a shower of hailstones and rain.

A total of 9 different faults in West Tipperary are reported on the powercheck.ie website. The outages affect 350 customers in parts of Tipperary town and areas to the east and west of Tipperary town. Most faults are due to be repaired by noon  – however four faults in west Tipperary are listed to have power restored by 1.15pm today – this is for customers served by the Garranacanty substation.  The outages began in the Kilross road area at 10.29am with the final outage caused by the storm beginning at 10.49am as the storm moved quickly east.  One fault that began at 10.34am affecting 60 customers east of Tipperary has been repaired.  15 customers in Glengoole are also without power   – this fault is due to be repaired by 1.15pm today. ESB networks posts updates on the website www.powercheck.ie and can be contacted by calling  1 800 372 999.
