The Community Training Centre(CTC) in Nenagh is to provide accommodation space to the Nenagh Men’s Shed Group. The Men’s Shed were facing closure as it could not find affordable space for their activities.
The new location is being described as ideal as the CTC has a number of workshops. The Men’s Shed will initially use the building two evenings a week and will make a financial contribution towards expenses. Tutors working at the Centre may become involved in the Men’s shed. Rose Nunan, the manager of Nenagh CTC says the facilities including Woodwork, Art, IT and Catering make the location an ideal venue to host the Mens Shed Group.
Mick White of the Nenagh Men’s shed group says the State needs to do more to help voluntary groups with facilities. Nenagh Order of Malta and The Tipperary Search an Rescue organisations say they are both without a permanent home and in some cases volunteer members are storing equipment for free on behalf of the groups.
