Court Case Involving Sean Meehan Has Been Cancelled

The court case due before Cashel Court this morning involving Sean Meehan has been cancelled.

Mr Meehan’s daughter Karina says the family got the news late yesterday and wanted to let those intending to travel to Cashel to support Sean know that the case is not going ahead.

As of now it is unclear why the case is cancelled – it may be connected to a Government decision to allow cabins and modular homes in the rear garden of homes without planning permission to help ease the housing crisis.

Tom Hennessey, a major support of Sean Meehan, says the two developments mean that there is light at the end of the tunnel now and says yesterday was a good day for everyone involved in the campaign.  Tipperary County Council had commenced enforcement proceedings against Mr Meehan following a complaint from a member of the public. The Council and An Bord Pleanála both refused planing permission for Mr Meehan’s home – a mobile home covered in log cabin effect cladding to provide extra shelter and a covered porch area situated on his own lands near New Inn. Tipperary County Council have been contacted for a response.
