The family of New Inn Man Sean Meehan say a Bench Warrant has been issued for his arrest as he was not in court in Cashel this morning for his Court hearing in respect of a planning enforcement case being taken by Tipperary County Council.
The family had shared yesterday that their legal representative told Sean not to attend today as the case was not proceeding, In a post on the “Save Sean’s Cabin Page” Mr Meehan’s daughter says that Judge Brian O’Shea is pressing ahead with the case and issued a bench warrant for Sean Meehan’s arrest.
It remains to be seen if Mr Meehan can avoid being taken into custody by providing an explanation as to his nonappearance in court this morning. To date Mr Meehan has attended all of his court dates and is under threat of a custodial sentence for not removing the home he has created for himself on his land in New Inn as he has not been able to secure retention or full planning permission from Tipperary County Council or An Bord Pleanála.
Tipperary South TD Mattie McGrath describes the events this morning as shocking and adds that he is actively engaging with Sean to assist in what he calls an evolving situation.
