The South Tipperary Hospice Movement and the Irish Cancer Society are to share equally the proceeds from a Tractor run  held in Golden on New Year’s Day. The event raised a total of €72,000 in memory of the late Tommy Prendergast and the late Melissa Morrissey.

The event was organised by the Dualla Ploughing Association, the Prendergast family and the Morrissey family, to raise funds for the two organisations.  Over 430 tractors participated in the event to celebrate the lives of Tommy Prendergast and Melissa Morrissey, both of whom died due to cancer.

Cllr Liam Browne says the event shows how communities can come together to make a difference in people’s lives. Cllr Browne is also extending thanks to the various Ploughing and Vintage groups and their farming members for their ongoing work in supporting the hospice movement.  The organising committee consisted of Eamon Morrissey, Darren Byrnes, Mary Prendergast, Richard Prendergast and Mary Byrnes.
