Appeal To Support Four IBTS Blood Donation Clinics In Thurles

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service(IBTS) is appealing to Tipperary people to support four days of blood donation clinics in Thurles this week.

The Clinics are being held at the Dome on the grounds of Coláiste Mhuire Co- Education School on the Nenagh Road. Each day up to and including Thursday February 20th the clinics offer appointments starting at 4.50pm until the final times beginning at 8.10pm.

New donors are welcome and information about the pre- donation screening is available on the Giveblood.ie website at this link here.   Regular donors are asked to respond to the text messages from the service or to call 1800 222 111 to book an appointment.

In 2024 the IBTS issued the highest number of blood donation units to Irish hospitals in over a decade, at just under 128,500 units. This exceptionally high demand has continued unabated into 2025. The service says it urgently needs new donors, younger donors, donors of all ethnicities and in particular, those of African heritage and is asking people who might never have given blood before, or it’s been a while, to make it their goal to give blood, and the priceless gift of life, to those in local communities and hospitals who need such assistance..
