Tipperary county council is to be allocated €42m for Regional and Local Roads in 2025.
The figure is an increase of €6m or 17% compared to last year. Council engineers will now work with councillors to agree the priority works for 2025.
The allocation is being welcomed by North Tipperary TD Michael Lowry. Deputy Lowry says the issue was addressed during the recent Government Formation Talks and that he sought a substantial increase in road funding particularly as many rural roads have deteriorated and are in need of restoration.
Also included is a River Suir package of €500,000 to remediate bridges on the river route (Camus, Ballycarron, Ardmayle & Newcastle Bridges). There is the possibility of other additional funding as the TD confirms that talks are ongoing about the level of funding for private and public lanes under the Local Improvement and Community Improvement Schemes which involves local residents/landowners contributing to the cost of repairing these routes.
