The organisers of a fundraising match involving the Tipperary Senior Hurling team have donated €11,000 to the Mary’s Meal Charity. The game between Tipperary and Laois, played at Páirc Shilean  in Templemore on January 14th, raised the hugely needed funds. The money will supply 500 children with one meal a day for an entire school year – the charity works extensively in Africa with projects in 16 countries.

Mary’s Meals mission statement is that every child receives one meal a day in a place of education believing education to be the road out of poverty.  Mary’s Meals was founded by Magnus McFarlane-Barrow who recently took part in an event at the Vatican focused on addressing world hunger.

North Tipperary Mary’s Meals is thanking all those who assisted and supported the event last month. The group says their work will continue so that the world will be a better place because they lived.
