Nenagh & Thurles Regional Water Supplies Removed From Environmental Protection Agency’s Remedial Action List

Uisce Éireann is confirming that both the Nenagh and Thurles Regional Water Supplies have been removed from the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Remedial Action List.

The Coolbawn water treatment plant which serves over 15,000 customers across Nenagh, Silvermines, Portroe, Gortgarry, Puckaun, Urra, Dromineer, Toomevara, Dolla, and Newtown was upgraded to provide a more robust and resilient disinfection system. 

Upgrades to the treatment process controls at the Thurles water treatment plant have also been completed. The Thurles plant serves 13,000 customers across Thurles, Ballycahill, Littleton, Horse & Jockey, Holycross, Bouladuff, Dovea, Borrisoleigh and Drom.The Remedial Action List identifies drinking water supplies that are at risk of failing to consistently supply safe, clean drinking water. The EPA puts a supply on the Remedial action list if it determines that work is required by Uisce Eireann to ensure that water supply continues to be safe to drink and that the supply is also secure in the future.
