Tipperary Credit union is warning members about a scam involving fraudulent calls and texts. Fraudsters are verbally extracting debit card details and personal security information, which they then use to set up Apple Pay and Google Pay to carry out fraudulent transactions.
The advice for members of the credit union is to never disclose financial information, passwords, one-time codes, or personal details to any unsolicited third party. The credit union says it will never ask members to click on a link in an SMS to update security personal identification numbers or PINs or passwords.
Members who have any doubts about phone calls or texts they receive regarding their credit union account, should directly contact the Card Services Team on 01 693 3333 (available 24/7) or Tipperary Credit Union on 062 80400.
