The South East Mountain Rescue Association(SEMRA) responded to two callouts over the weekend.
Garda requested assistance on Saturday at 7.05pm for a walker in Glengarra woods who had lost their way. The walker was found shortly after by a patrol car before SEMRA got to the scene.
On Sunday just before 5pm Garda also requested assistance for a lost walker on the Galtees. As evening darkness and a heavy fog descended on Galtee Mor the walker became unsure of their position and called for help. SEMRA members responded to the Black Road Trailhead and were transported up to the cairn via the team Land Rovers. Team members set out on foot from there to the walker’s location, conditions underfoot were quite slippery and icy and the dense fog made navigation difficult. The walker was found at 7.04pm in good condition and able to walk back to the SEMRA vehicle and was later transported to their own vehicle.
