Tipperary county council is to meet on Monday in Clonmel with a 10am start. The meeting is to consider an invitation for Cathaoirleach Cllr Declan Burgess to attend the New York St Patrick’s Day parade.
Among the agenda items is a new Traveller Accommodation Programme to run until 2025 and an update on Progress on the Council’s Climate Action Plan. Councillors will also be asked to decide on an application under the Strategic Infrastructure Development process in respect of a wind farm near Thurles that extends over a number of townlands on the north and east of the town.
The councillors have also been circulated a copy of the CEO Sinead Carr’s submission to the Uisce Éireann Consultation on the proposed Shannon Pipeline project which involves extracting and treating water from the Shannon to supply the Eastern region of the country.
There are three motions on the agenda:
- Cllr Niall Dennehy’s motion from last month is to be considered – the Councillor requests that no more Section 183 land disposals relating to council owned property in Clonmel are put before the Clonmel MD council until councillors are given independent legal advice.
- Cllr Andy Moloney is asking for an examination of the volume of election posters placed in towns and villages and asks if a dedicated location for posters is a better option.
- Cllrs Anne Marie Ryan and Cllr David Dunne are proposing that Uisce Éireann be required to make financial compensation to businesses forced to close due to water outages.
The forty councillors have also been invited to visit Coolmore and Ballydoyle horse breeding and training facilities with a tentative date set for March 4th.
