Tipperary county council reports that the Council’s Local Authority Integration Team is supporting a total of 2,417 persons at present. The data is contained in the February Management Report.
1,662 Ukrainian Refugees are being assisted in the county with accommodation. There are a total of 795 people accommodated in county Tipperary that are part of the International Protection Programme. Such people may have filed an application for asylum in Ireland and are already approved but cannot find alternative private accommodation or are awaiting or appealing a decision on their application. The State continues to seek accommodation for Applicants for International protection with property owners able to apply for their property to be considered without having to submit a planning application.
Since February 2022, Ireland has welcomed over 113,000 people from Ukraine and has provided emergency accommodation to over 88,000 however the Government says the demand is reducing. At the same time, the need for accommodation for International Protection applicants is increasing and experiencing significant shortages, with over 3,000 people left without an offer of accommodation in 2024.
82 modular homes are being installed in Clonmel to provide accommodation for Ukrainian Refugees while the Government is moving Ukrainian refugees from Dundrum House hotel to accommodation understood to be in Roscrea and is considering using most of the Dundrum complex to accommodate asylum seekers with a maximum capacity set at 277 persons – approximately 70 women and children are residing at the complex since August last year under the International Protection process.
