Tipperary County Council Expecting Renewed Engagement Regarding Former Glen Hotel Waste Disposal System

Tipperary County Council is expecting renewed engagement from the owner of the former Glen Hotel in respect of faults in the waste disposal system connected to the building that impacts on local residents and on the adjacent environment including the river Aherlow.

At a Municipal District Council meeting last week Cllr John O ‘Heney sought an update. In response the Council’s Environment section says that the Council issued a Section 12 notice to the property owner under the Water Pollution Act requesting certain works to be undertaken. No action was taken leading the Council to take legal action where the council secured a conviction and fine was imposed on the property owner.

The Council says there has since been engagement by the owner and the Council is expecting “positive action shortly” to help resolve the issue. The treatment plant and pumping station for the adjacent 21 houses is based in the former hotel which has not been in active use for several years.
