Promising Start To 2025 According To Society Of The Irish Motor Industry

The Society of the Irish Motor Industry says the data on sales of 251 new vehicle registration statistics for January, reveals a promising start to the year for the motor industry. Sales of new cars in county Tipperary in January 2025 totalled 990 units, an 11.2% increase compared to January 2024.

Nationally new car registrations for the month of January were up 7%  to  33,521 units compared to January 2024. Light Commercial Vehicle sales are down 16% at 6,270 units compared to January last year while Heavy Goods Vehicle registrations are showing an increase of 8% at 489 units in comparison to January 2024.

Imported Used Cars saw a 5% increase to 5,604 units  in January 2025, when compared to January 2024.    Electric Vehicle  sales experienced a record-breaking month with the highest sales recorded to date, 4,925 registrations in January, representing a 20% increase when compared to 4,093 in January 2024.
