78

Tipperary Roads Policing Unit detected a HGV being driven more than 32km/h over the speed limit in Roscrea yesterday. Gardaí later established that the tax disk on display was actually belonging to a car and had expired over eight months ago. The Gardaí also found deficiencies  in the vehicle’s tachograph and seized the vehicle. The tachograph is a device that records driving time, breaks and rest periods of the driver as well as the speed of the vehicle. The driver will now face a number of court charges in respect of road traffic offences.

Garda also detected a car being driven at excessive speed in the area and using the Gardaí mobility app, a handheld device that can be used at the roadside to access details of insurance, driving licenses and vehicles, established that the driver was disqualified from driving. The vehicle was seized and the driver will also face a future court appearance.
