The Community group in Dualla opposed to the creation of a massive Solar Farm on lands adjacent to the village near Cashel are welcoming modifications to the initial planning application.
The developer Power Capital Renewable Energy was asked to provide further information by Tipperary County Council regarding the proposed solar complex and submitted a scaled back proposal last week.
The Group welcomes that the solar panels will no longer be placed on the lands directly behind the village and says the latest proposal is being reviewed by experts hired by the group – known as “Dualla Together”.
The group intends to make a further submission to the Planning Authority and says the fight is not over as the proposal will still involve over 200 acres of solar panels in the area which the group feels threatens local water courses, wildlife and the community’s way of life. The group are also concerned about the proposed location of a new electricity substation as part of the development and says the planned site behind the village is not acceptable.
The planning application reference number is 2460156. The additional information was received by the Council on January 16th and the Council’s decision should be available no later than 8 weeks from that date.
