Post Offices To Remain Closed For The Duration Of Storm Éowyn Red Warnings

An Post says there will be no postal deliveries or collections tomorrow, Friday January 24th, due to the weather warnings. Post Offices will remain closed for the duration of the Red warnings but will seek to reopen once it is safe to do so and conditions allow.

Subject to local road conditions and power supplies, An Post is planning to run Letter and Parcel deliveries nationwide on Saturday and Post Offices will open as normal from 9am – 1pm. 

An Post confirms that all social welfare benefit payments usually payable at the Post Office on Friday will be available on Saturday and next week. 

A Status Red Wind Warning is in place for county Tipperary from 6am to 11am on Friday – the entire country is subject to a Red Wind Warning at various times over the next 24 hours.  Counties Limerick and Cork are under a Red wind warning between  2am and 10am on Friday.  A Status Orange Wind Warning covers the country from midnight tonight until 4pm on Friday.  The warnings were updated today and may be changed again as more weather data becomes available – the warnings can be viewed here.

The storm may cause power outages, fallen trees, damage to structures and cancellation of transport services and will pose a serious risk to life.
