Two Tipperary Councillors have launched an online survey to gather feedback from the public about their experiences during the recent severe weather event.
Cllrs Anne Marie Ryan and David Dunne, both members of Sinn Fein want to get information that may be helpful in preparing for future events particularly from the perspective of Tipperary County Council. The survey link can be found here.
The two Councillors along with many other councillors contributed to a discussion on the matter at last Monday’s Council meeting when issues such as the number of outdoor staff employed (259 in the county- 83 in the Tipp Cashel Cahir District), provision of salt boxes to residents and community associations, assessment of plant machinery in each district, inclusion of feedback from the public, support requested from the Defence Forces, other Local Authorities and Private Contractors, Roads & Footpaths, Priority Salting Routes, rural roads & villages response were identified as issues to be included in the Council’s post event review.
The two councillors are seeking general information in the short survey including how individuals were impacted, where they live and how improvements in preparation and response could be made for future events.
The Councillors ask that respondents be constructive and be mindful of the long hours / difficult conditions that faced the outdoor staff in dealing with the unprecedented conditions over the course of last week.
