Tipperary County Council processed payment of €6.248M as of November 30th 2024 under the Power up Grant Scheme to assist the local Hospitality, Retail and Beauty sector businesses with increases in their operating costs.

A total of 1,566 submissions were received.

The scheme is a follow-on scheme to the Increase Cost of Business or ICOB scheme introduced in budget 2023. Tipperary businesses secured €4.45M in the first round of the scheme with 2,999 businesses applying –  the second round of ICOB distributed €2.9M in the second round last year to 1,891 businesses.

The grant was available to qualifying businesses as a contribution towards the rising costs faced by businesses.

The grant was intended to aid businesses but not intended to directly compensate for all increases in wages, or other costs, for every business.  The funds were provided by  central government.

ISME, representing small and medium enterprises, continues to press the Government for measures to support businesses facing increasing input costs and higher operating costs due to Government decisions around minimum pay, statutory sick leave and Auto Enrolment in pensions which begins on September 20th 2025.
