Tipperary county council roads section says it is confident that funding to ensure that the N24 road project linking the M8 north of Cahir to a point on the N24 at Knockballyfookeen west of Brooks Bridge in Limerick will progress as intended this year. The road project includes bypasses for Bansha, Tipperary town, Limerick Junction, Monard and Oola and includes two new streets on the eastern side of Tipperary town. Project updates can be found on the dedicated website www.n24cahirlimerick.ie
Cllr Anne Marie Ryan raised the matter at today’s plenary meeting in Nenagh. The current timeline is that a further update is to be published by the end of March and that the formal planning application for the 37 km road will be submitted to An Bord Pleanála by the end of this year. John Nolan, a senior roads engineer in the Council Roads section says the project is on track but confirmed that the opposite is the case for the N24 upgrade from Cahir to Waterford and says political pressure is needed to get the project back to design development.
