Status Yellow Low Temperature Warning In Place As Status Orange Low Temperature/Ice Warning Expires

A Status Orange Low temperature/ice warning expired at 8am today in Tipperary and 12 other counties. A Status Yellow low temperature warning is in place until noon today.  Gurteen Agriculture college recorded a temperature of minus 4.6 overnight.  Limerick Junction weather station temperature is now approaching 1 degree above freezing(as of 8am). There was a light fall of snow overnight in Tipperary and at present a light sleet is falling in Tipperary Town. 

Tipperary County council staff and volunteers are to continue clearing snow and ice on roads, town car parks, footpaths and housing estates today in advance of an expected increase in temperatures over the coming days.  All schools and many businesses remain closed today as staff/customers cannot travel. Tipperary town Post Office is open today. Customers are reminded that underfoot conditions on many streets continue to post a risk for pedestrians.
