Tidy towns groups across the country are to benefit from a new Community Insurance initiative aimed at such groups.

The Community Insurance initiative allows Local Authorities to obtain insurance for Tidy Towns through a partnership between Irish Public Bodies (IPB) Insurance and local authorities.

Minister Neale Richmond says “Volunteer and local groups such as Tidy Towns are central to communities right across the country, not only through their work in keeping towns clean, presentable and attractive but crucially in providing a pathway for people to give back to their community, providing support and meeting the needs of the area.”

The Minister stresses that this new community group insurance scheme is not state insurance,  rather, it is a partnership between IPB Insurance and local authorities.

The Chairperson of Tipperary Town Group Paul O’Callaghan is welcoming the change. The Tipperary Town Residents Association network currently avails of insurance free of charge from the Council for properly constituted Residents Associations.
