Construction commencement notices in respect of a total of 61 new homes were reported to the Department of Housing for the month of November(2024) in respect of county Tipperary.
The total reported is 510% higher than in November 2023 when just 10 notices were submitted.
For the year to date a total of 929 new homes have commenced in county Tipperary compared to the total of 501 new homes in all of 2023. Government waivers of development levies and water connection fees have prompted a wave of construction activity alongside the huge shortage in available housing supply.
Nationally the data shows that construction work commenced on 1,318 homes in November 2024. For the first eleven months of 2024 54,574 were homes commenced, a significant increase of 84% compared to 29,634 homes in the same period of 2023.
In the last 12 months (December 2023 to November 2024) there have been 57,741 homes commenced, an increase of 84% from 31,429 in the prior 12 months
Of the 1,318 homes commenced in November 2024, 48% are scheme dwellings, 19% are apartments and 33% are for one-off units.
