The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is appealing for donors to attend a clinic in Nenagh on Monday.
Appointments are available between 1.50pm and the final appointments begin at 5.10pm.
The clinic will be held in the Abbey court Hotel and the service is anxious to have a good attendance as there will be a four day Christmas gap in Clinics after Monday’s session.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is urging donors to make a special effort to give blood around the Christmas and New Year period, and into January 2025 as due to the way the holidays fall this year 45 normally scheduled clinics will not be held over that period. For the next 3 weeks, the service needs to make over 10,000 appointments to safely support the health service over Christmas and into 2025.
The IBTS has just imported additional stocks of O negative, B negative and A negative from the UK to supplement supply in those blood groups leading into Christmas as demand for these blood groups remains consistently high. Extra donation clinics are planned on the next three Sundays (22nd, 29th December, 5th January), and additional clinics on Friday 27th December and 3rd January.
Regular donors are urged to respond to text notifications by ringing 1800731137 or via the online booking portal. Those with appointments are asked to make a special effort to and keep it as there have been large amounts of no shows and cancellations at short notice.
Donation clinics will be held in Clonmel, Newport and Nenagh on dates between January 6th and 16th – full details are available at this link here.
