Three Tipperary Councillors have been nominated so far to contest the Seanad Elections.
Today is the final day for nominations from approved Nominating bodies for the upcoming Seanad Elections to fill 43 seats – 6 other seats will be filled by the Two University Constituencies(voting closes on January 29th at 11am) and the next Taoiseach will appoint the final 11 Senators.
Nominations from Oireachtas Members will close on December 31st so the full list of candidates for the 5 Panels in the Seanad is not yet known.
The panels are in the area of Industrial and Commercial, where Cllr Declan Burgess is nominated, Cllr Mairin McGrath is nominated by Comhaltas in the Culture and Education panel while Cllr Imelda Goldsboro will be seeking a Seanad seat via the Agricultural Panel.
The other two panels are Labour and the Administrative Panel.
These 43 Seanad seats are elected on the votes of the 949 councillors across the country, the sitting 174 TDs and the outgoing Seanad members.
Ballot Papers will be issued on January 15th with voting for the 43 Seats on the Panels to conclude at 11am on January 30th.
