Littleton Village Mourns The Loss Of Two Lives Following Fatal House Fire

207

The village of Littleton, near Thurles,  is coming to terms with the deaths of two men in a house fire in the village that began shortly after 2am this morning.  The men have been named locally as Stephen Lee and his son John

The two men, aged in their 80s and 50s, were pronounced deceased at the scene.  Neighbours raised the alarm and attempted to rescue the occupants. Units from Tipperary Fire Service based in Thurles and Templemore responded to the fire.

The older man was a widower and living alone, so a family member stayed with him each night. The man’s wife died last year and the couple had 3 surviving adult children.  The son who died in the fire is understood to have been living in West Tipperary.

Garda say their investigations as to the cause of the fire are now underway alongside colleagues from the Tipperary Fire Service.

The turn of the Christmas lights in Littleton village has been deferred as a mark of respect to the deceased and their family.
