A book launch planned for tonight in Thurles has been postponed until next week as the book – a 100 year history of Thurles Rugby Club is caught up in the closure of Holyhead Ferry Terminal due to damage caused by Storm Darragh last weekend.

The closure of the ferry terminal has impacted the movement of goods, post and passengers in both directions.

An Post expects to receive approximately 350,000 UK parcels over the next 24 hours and staff at Dublin, Portlaoise and Athlone hubs will process and deliver the incoming parcels.. An Post has 1,400 Christmas casual workers to handle the extra volume of post/online orders.   The company says the backlog of parcels in Holyhead for An Post has been reduced from approximately 500,000 to circa 150,000 by re-routing. There will be nationwide parcel deliveries and all post offices will remain open this Saturday 14th December. An Post will be delivering up to Christmas Eve all parcels received by December 21st.
