N74 and Junction to R661 and James Connolly Park
Tipperary County Council is giving advance notice of major road works near James Connolly Park in January. The R661 Road will be closed from January 13th until January 26th to allow for the construction of a new junction layout, new drainage and utility connections and road construction works. Traffic will be diverted via Murgasty and Rosanna road with diversions local to the works via James Connolly park local road and via Dundrum Road.
The works are part of the N74 Cashel Road Project and during this temporary closure at the junction outbound traffic will continue on Fr Matthew Street. There will be limited pedestrian access at the Junction to/from James Connolly park between January 13th to January 26th with only one footpath open at a time.
Drivers will not be able to make a loop from the Dundrum Road past the Multi Use Games Area and back to Rosanna Road during the road works – traffic can travel via St Michael’s Avenue to reach the Knockanrawley road.
Entrance to James Connolly Park from the N74 – which will be temporarily closed between January 13th to 26th.
The contractors are understood to be a couple of weeks behind schedule with the major road project now active on both sides of the N74. Traffic on the N74/Cashel Road is one way outbound from Tipperary town with Stop & Go Traffic Management and traffic lights on parts of the route. Local residents are experiencing significant disruption to parking restrictions and the noise due to the road construction activities. Full details of the project can be found on the website n74tipperarytown.ie.
