There has been another incident of cars passing through the Wallers Lot area in Cashel being targeted with stones and rocks. A young mother posted on social media last night showing damage to her car with a broken window in view and a rock on the seat. The driver later attended hospital for an assessment. Her child was in the car at the time of the incident.
Local Cllr Liam Browne is calling for a number of actions in response to the latest occurrence in the long running issue of stones being thrown at cars in the area. Cllr Browne confirms that Gardaí eventually responded to the scene and have begun an investigation to find the culprits.
Cllr Browne reveals that when alerted to the incident he tried to phone Cashel Garda Station and got no response, he also got no answer in Cahir and when he tried Clonmel station they confirmed Gardaí were on the scene as did Cahir station when he tried for a second time.
The Councillor says a multi agency response is necessary as a fatality could occur if the behaviour continues. Many other drivers commenting on the Councillor’s posts shared similar experiences of stones being thrown at their cars when passing in the area.
Cllr Browne wants Gardai to have more resources, Tusla to intervene with the young people involved, the Minister for Justice to have better laws and more detention spaces. the travelling community to show leadership and Tipperary County Council to provide better lighting and CCTV to help deter such incidents.
