A very special Mass will take place in Knockavilla today at the Church of the Assumption as Fr. Killian Heney will celebrate his first Mass.
Fr Heney, from Ballinahinch, was ordained into the priesthood at St Michaels Church, Tipperary town on Sunday. Archbishop Ciaran O’Reilly and Bishop of Kilmore, Martin Hayes led the ceremony.
The Mass will begin at 3pm today and all are welcome to attend and are invited to return to Dundrum Community Hall for refreshments after the Mass.
Fr Killian Heney has been working in St Michael’s parish during his period of preparation for the priesthood and has also undertaken training in the area of Hospital Chaplaincy. It is expected that he will remain in St Michael’s parish for the foreseeable future.
