The restoration of power and water supplies interrupted by Storm Darragh continues.
In county Tipperary, ESB Networks expect to have all faults except one repaired today – some are scheduled to be repaired by 4.30pm such as a fault at Garranacanty affecting 18 customers, others will be completed at various times up to 9pm. A fault in Roscrea affecting 15 customers is not expected to be repaired until 8pm on Wednesday night.
Councils across the country have also been clearing roads blocked by fallen trees. A building in Cashel on Canopy Street lost some slates and the area has been cordoned off until the roof can be fully assessed. Street lights in the west End of Tipperary town are also out of action due to storm damage.
As at 5pm yesterday approximately 55,000 homes, farms and businesses remain without power. Power has been restored to 340,000 customers following Storm Darragh. ESB Networks says Storm Darragh caused widespread and extensive damage to electricity infrastructure across the country. Crews from French counterparts, Enedis will arrive today to assist with power restoration in the worst impacted areas. Ferry sailings to Holyhead have been cancelled due to damage at the port caused by Storm Darragh.
