Tipp Town’s Christmas Lights To Be Switched On Tomorrow

Christmas in Tipperary town will launch this weekend.The Christmas lights turn on takes place on Saturday, a Night time Christmas Market is also planned for Saturday December 7th and the Tidy Towns Group are set to start judging the best Christmas Windows in the town.

The Christmas lights switch on ceremony will be staged at the Market Yard between the two banks at 5pm on Saturday – the event is due to last approximately 45 minutes as DJ Bren will provide music as Santa and some friends make their big entrance(approximately 5.30pm).

Special guests will switch on the lights – include 3 local members of the Tipperary All Ireland Minor winning Hurling Team 2024 – David Ryan, Adam Ryan, Darragh O’Brien and Manager James Woodlock and Coach Conor O’Brien.The Night Time Christmas Market takes place from 5.30pm to 8.30pm in the Abbey Street Car Park on Saturday December 7th.

The car park will be closed from 9.30pm on Friday night to allow for amusements and marquees to be set up.

The Market will feature entertainment for children, free face painting, food and beverage offers and craft stalls.Tipperary town Business and Marketing Group and The Tipperary Music Festival Committee are leading the effort in the absence of a functioning Chamber of Commerce. As no group took on the Shop Local Voucher offer from the Council retailers/shoppers are missing out on the campaign this year.

Tipperary County Council provided a grant of €5,000 towards the Christmas Lights and an online donation page is available on the iDonate platform to raise funds to cover the full cost of the Christmas lights – to date the page has received €2,265 in contributions.
