A number of lump sum social welfare payments are being paid this week.
Over 1.38 million people will receive the Christmas Bonus payment this week. This will benefit pensioners, people with disabilities, carers and lone parents. Recipients of Illness Benefit for longer than 12 months will also receive the bonus, as they have done in recent years. A total of 51,600 people will receive this payment in county Tipperary.
The Christmas Bonus provides a 100% increase in the weekly rate of payment for eligible recipients. People will receive the Christmas Bonus in addition to and on the same day that they normally receive their primary payment.
676,000 families, in respect of over 1.27 million children, will receive a double Child Benefit payment today across Ireland. In county Tipperary 22,633 families will receive this payment to benefit 43, 677 children.
The increases in the rate of the weekly payment announced in Budget 2025 will come into effect in January when most rates are to be increased by €12 per week.
