The Tipperary Peace Convention is to hold a Tipperary Song of Peace contest in 2025 with January 15th the closing date for entries. Entrants are asked to send an mp3 of their song and the song lyrics with their entry.  The entry form can be secured by emailing  [email protected].

Martin Quinn the Hon Sec of the Tipperary Peace Convention says the event has two categories –  an International winner and the Mick Tuohy Perpetual Cup for the best Irish entrant.  The song contest is expected to be held with live performances in Tipperary town in the Spring of 2025.  Mr Quinn says the world needs more messages of peace and entrants  can take a liberal interpretation of the meaning of peace in their song.

In addition the Convention is now accepting nominees for the 2024 Tipperary International Peace Award which has been awarded each year since 1984.  Nominations can be made by individuals or groups and should be submitted by  December 20th 2024 to Martin Quinn at [email protected].   A shortlist will be published in early 2025.

The 2023 winner was Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders

for their work in providing aid to areas hit by natural disasters and areas impacted by conflict around the world but especially in Gaza. The Tipperary Peace Convention is also holding a Christmas Reflection Celebration in the Excel Centre on Monday December 9th at 11am and all are welcome to attend.
