Tipperary County Council is confirming that the Christmas lights in Thurles will be turned on at 6pm on Friday December 6th. Tipperary County Council is responsible for Christmas lights in the towns in North Tipperary and also provides financial assistance to community groups in villages to support Christmas lights.
The main ceremony will take place near Deja Brew in the middle of Liberty Square with live music on stage from 5.30pm until 7pm. A Special Santa Grotto will be open at the Thurles Tourist Office on Slievenamon Road every Saturday from December 7th between 2 and 4pm. There is a small fee per child and bookings can be made by emailing [email protected] or by calling 0504 27534
The council is reminding shoppers that every purchase made with a local business contributes to the town’s economy. County Tipperary Chamber of Commerce is encouraging the public to buy one of the newly established Love Tipperary Gift Cards to ensure that money remains in the county. The card can be used in up to 260 businesses in the county that have registered to date to accept the card. Tipperary County Council and the Chamber are covering the cost of the transaction fee payment processors charge retailers to ensure that the full value of the card spend remains in county Tipperary.
