The South East Mountain Rescue Association has postponed it s Long Way Round Fundraising event that was scheduled for Saturday night November 23rd. The postponement is due to the current weather conditions and the forecast through to Sunday. The event will now be held on January 25th and tickets are valid for that date or participants can get a refund. The event is a 15km walk or run held at night.
SEMRA says as a rescue service it would be remiss to attempt the event in adverse weather and also is conscious of the demands the event puts on route marshals who have to be in position for a long time and adds that they want the event to be enjoyable for all participants. It is the first time in 9 years that the event has been postponed due to weather.
