Over €40,000 is being allocated to groups organising Christmas activities that will boost spending in local communities by attracting attendees to events.

Tipperary County Council operates the Christmas Retail Grant Scheme annually.  The grants awarded range from €4,000 to the County Tipperary Chamber of Commerce for a Santa event in Clonmel to €250 for Cloneen Sports and Social Club’s Christmas Festival Craft Fair.   The county wide allocation this year is €41,400.

Locally, the Tipperary Excel Centre is allocated €300 for the Christmas PJ Movie event, Cahir Development Association gets €1,800, Ballylooby Community Council €300, the West End Residents Association/Light up the plan €500, Monard Community Hall €400 and Tipperary Town Marketing Group €1,800 for their Christmas Market event in the Abbey Street carpark on Saturday December 7th.
