South Tipperary Branch Of ONE To Host Special Remembrance Event

111

A Special Remembrance event is to be held in Tipperary town on Sunday to mark the sacrifice of all those who died in wars around the world – especially those from Tipperary.

The South Tipperary Branch of ONE – the Organisation of National Ex Service Personnel, will host the event in St Mary’s Church, John Street,(E34 F759)  which begins at 11am.  The Church ceremony will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Remembrance Arch in the Grounds of St Vincent’s Hospital on Station Road. The event will conclude with light refreshments at the Porterhouse at Bank Place.

Gerry Cronin, a spokesperson for the ONE, says all are welcome to attend the event that is historically linked to the agreement that ended World War One. The Armistice,  an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War as a prelude to peace negotiations  began at 11am on 11 November 1918. Armistice is Latin for to stand (still) arms.
