Tipperary Sinn Féin TD Martin Browne says that questions must be answered about the resources needed to enable Gardaí to curb instances of anti-social behaviour as seen on Halloween night in Tipperary town.
The TD adds that the incidents of violence and damage bring into stark relief the additional need to address social exclusion and deprivation. Tipperary Garda have received reports of attacks causing damage to 12 cars as of today.
The Sinn Féin TD made the comment after dangerous behaviour resulted in fires being set in residential areas, attacks on cars, and other instances of unacceptable behaviour including an attack on an adult male. Deputy Browne says the incidents were unacceptable and dangerous.
Deputy Browne adds that he and local Sinn Fein Councillor Annemarie Ryan have sought a meeting with local Gardaí on the matter and also intend to raise the issues of resources and measures to tackle social deprivation with the Minister for Justice as well as the Minister for Rural and Community Development.
