Service Resumes At Tipperary Town Post Office Following IT System Disruption

Tipperary town Postmaster Gordon Bennett says the IT System has been restored and service is resumed at the Tipperary town Post Office which is now located in SuperValu (Kickham Place).  The new Postmaster says it has been a frustrating morning for customers especially pensioners collecting their weekly payment.

An Post sent an engineer earlier today as the computer system that enables social protect payments was not operating. Angus Lafferty the Public Affairs manager at An Post says the company apologises for the disruption.

The Post Office opened at the location three days ago after An Post decided earlier this year to transfer retail post services to a private Post Master.  Supervalu owner Gordon Bennett was the successful applicant and a dedicated retail space was constructed and went into service with four staff on Tuesday October 29th.  Customers experienced delays causing queues and uncertainty as to whether they will be able to obtain funds at the office today when the IT glitch disrupted service which has now been restored as of 11.15am.
