Gardaí and Fire services in Tipperary are warning of the dangers of bonfires and fireworks over Halloween and the coming days.

Superintendent Eddie Golden says many of the fireworks in circulation are of questionable quality and is urging people to avoid using such products. It is illegal to set off fireworks in Ireland without a licence.  Garda are reminding the public that it is an offence to light an unlicensed firework or to throw a lit firework at any person or property.

Gardaí are urging people to be responsible and not set off fireworks or bangers near houses. Superintendent Golden says fireworks can cause fear and stress. Concerns are also expressed for animals that may be frightened or bolt from their home due to the noise and lights associated with fireworks.  Caution is also advised for anyone viewing a bonfire as the fire can become unstable and items thrown into the fire can explode causing injuries.
