St Ailbe’s school, Tipperary town, is to stage two nights of the musical Grease this week – the performance is the school edition of the classic show.
The cast entertained children from local national schools yesterday to benefit from a full performance before a live audience.
The wider public can attend the show on Thursday (October 24th) and Friday (October 25th) at the Michael Quirke PE Hall on Rosanna Road. The show, which features so many hit songs from the 70s musical, begins at 7.30pm each evening. Tickets are available on the door or by telephoning 062 51905.
The students have been rehearsing for weeks in the Marian Hall which they say is a hugely helpful resource to have for rehearsals. The iconic show from the 70s features the ups and downs in the life’s of the leads Sandy and Danny and their teenage contemporaries. The show is being directed by Ms Sarah Collins, her 5th year as Director for the annual school musical which features the students in Transition Year and 5th year.
Ms Collins describes it as a whole of school production as many staff are involved in areas such as production, staging and the promotion work including creating and installing advertising signage. The school has also engaged the services of a Choreographer, Ms Cerys Loughane to help perfect the dance moves in the show. Tickets are available for adults, children or for a family group.
