Cllr Anne Marie Ryan is expressing frustration at the slow progress in delivering the N24 Cahir to Limerick Road upgrade but says the project is moving towards a planning application. The Design Team is to give Tipperary TDs and Councillors an update on October 25th and will then release the latest designs to the public.
The design of the Active Travel, Demand Management and Road Components of the project is being undertaken by the design team at present and they are taking on board feedback received to date and findings from physical surveys and ground investigations. On site ground investigations are expected to be completed in the coming weeks. Water levels are also being monitored as part of the current Ground Investigations. Additional surveys are currently taking place to inform the design of the active travel component and the drainage design for the road component.
Cllr Ryan says the team hopes to submit a planning application to An Bord Pleanála by late 2025 – it could be 2028 before planning, land acquisition and procurement are finalised for construction work to begin with an optimistic outlook according to Cllr Ryan.
Full details of the project are available on the website at www.N24cahirlimerick.ie and the design team can be contacted by phoning 061 951000. The new route will be a mix of new road construction and parts of the existing N24 being upgraded and will bypass Oola, Monard, Limerick Junction, Tipperary town and Bansha.
