Labour Party TD Alan Kelly Confirms He Is To Run In The Next General Election

Tipperary Labour Party TD Alan Kelly is confirming he will run in the next General Election for the North Tipperary constituency.  The former Party Leader is based in Nenagh and has previously served as Minister for Housing and Local Government in the 2011 – 2016 Coalition Government with Fine Gael.  

North Tipperary will elect 3 TDs in the next election as it is now a standalone constituency taking in 13 Local Electoral Areas in North West Kilkenny. The two other sitting TDs are Regional Independent Michael Lowry and Fianna Fáil TD Jackie Cahill. Fianna Fáil have yet to hold their convention but the only nominee is Thurles based Jackie Cahill former president of the ICMSA. 

Fine Gael have selected Ballina based Cllr Phil Bugler to stand in North Tipperary and the Green Party has selected Cloughjordan based Iva Pocock as it’s candidate.  Sinn Fein are yet to hold their selection convention.  South Tipperary will also elect 3 TDs as the county overall is to have 6 TDs due to population increase.
