Cahir’s Kennedy Family Win National Awards

The Kennedy Family in Cahir have emerged as winners of the 2024 National Dairy Council and Kerrygold Milk Quality Awards.

The prestigious annual awards programme, now in its 15th year, saw 11 farming families from six counties and 11 dairy co-operatives, celebrated for excellence at a special ceremony hosted at Lyrath Estate Hotel, Co Kilkenny.

Dairygold Co-Op nominated the Kennedys who then went on the impress the judges as they evaluated the farm operation on factors such as environmental sustainability, animal health and welfare, farm infrastructure, hygiene standards, soil and grassland management, and technical performance.

Parents Aidan and Derval Kennedy along with their adult children, Nickolas and Galina, and the farm team, were recognised for demonstrating the highest standards of excellence in dairy farming and were presented with the 2024 NDC & Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards perpetual cup.

The Kennedys are also the category winners for Milk Hygiene and Facilities.
