Engineers working in the Tipperary Cahir Cashel District say they have over 450 bridges to maintain.
The comment was made during the discussion of a motion from Cllr Liam Browne seeking an inspection and repair works, if deemed necessary, on the bridge over the river Suir in Ardmayle.
The motion also asked that the yellow and black paintwork at the bridge entrance be refreshed to help guide traffic onto the bridge and to also help reduce the risk of collisions.
The Council is currently awaiting a report from a consultant hired recently to survey the bridge and says an application will be made under the Bridge Rehabilitation Grant scheme for any necessary repairs.
Projects that are approved for funding will be notified by the Department of Transport in March of next year.
Over €1.2M was allocated to Tipperary County Council for repairs to 11 specific bridges in 2024.
