Two major Projects in Tipperary Town are due to have contractors on site in the first quarter of 2025.

The renovations at Dan Breen house on Davis Street will create a new ETB training centre and Youthwork Ireland facility and the modification and renovation of the Courthouse and Bridewell complex on St Michael’s Street will provide a facility for day activities for people with Disabilities under the auspices of the Moorehaven Centre.

Councillors were informed at yesterday’s MD meeting that both projects are at advanced design and tender stage at present.

Funding of €7.9M  from the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund has been secured to fund both projects which will start simultaneously.

The Tipperary District Court no longer sits in Tipperary town and matters before the Court are now heard at the Courthouse in Nenagh.

The Court services stopped using the Courthouse building on St Michael’s street in 2010 due to the poor condition of the building and subsequently stopped using the alternative venue in the Excel Centre during the pandemic.

The Court Service says it is continuing to seek a suitable venue to return court hearings to Tipperary town.
